Its way too early to change the DVD format. I would give it atleast another five years.
Most people dont have HD-TV's and as has been said, a whole range of new equipment would be needed.
The first models will be priced sky high so I doubt anyone will be able to afford it until a good while.

It reminds me a bit when the huge vinyl sized laser discs came out. Very expensive machines and then eventually got replaced by the DVD.
