right i'm here on my wireless network.. woo hoo.. just need to secure the connection and i'm cooking with gas!

just a note if anyone buys a Asus WL-167G USB2 Adaptor, you may need to remove the adaptor if you shut your mac down and the re-insert it once you've restarted as mine will not see it unless you do so.. other than that it was a doddle to install:

install asus drivers and utility
connect Netgear router to modem and a ethernet cable from the router to my mac, connect to netgear set up wizard and change your settings as required, unplug ethernet cable from the mac and then you're wireless

i'm still getting my head around security though.. i'll report back on that, my head is swimming with MAC filtering and WEP stuff.. hehe
