Maybe IRC is CPU hungry? I was going to get a Lycos VDS, but I looked at the specs and I thought "Its cheaper to run one at home. When NTL move to unlimited I can get the same bandwidth but so much more out of it for the same price just running one at home" so I didnt bother.

Their shared hosting is 10Mbps so Ill stick with that for my friends hosting and my own file hosting.
