Bambi, no i'm plugging straight into PC, (does this render the other questions null and void because I don't even understand questions 3 +4!!).

Was using USB as I have done for years but since reading some of the posts on here I thought I'd put my network card to use. Still exactly the same via ethernet though.

Seems I've got the same problem as others listed above, sadly NTL seem to be looking the other way, sticking their fingers in their ears and shouting, "La La Laaaaaa!", so they can't hear us. (or saying the problem is at our end, which I suppose technically, it is, damn fools us!)

By the way, if this is a modem issue, (as it seems to be), would it work if I swapped the modem with a friend who is only on 1mb but has a 250 as he only recently subscribed.

i.e. If the 100 can handle 1mb OK, which we know it can, what's to stop us just swapping the modems and making everyone happy??
