Just checked and got these results:

2nd 512K took 2123 ms = 241.2 KB/sec, approx 1987 Kbps,
1.94 Mbps
3rd 512K took 2183 ms = 234.5 KB/sec, approx 1932 Kbps,
1.89 Mbps
4th 512K took 2213 ms = 231.4 KB/sec, approx 1907 Kbps,
1.86 Mbps
Overall Average Speed = approx 1834 Kbps,
1.79 Mbps
I emailed NTL last night (no reply yet) after posting on here and gave them links to this and other threads that I found to prove that it wasn't just me or my PC.
The modem that I have is from NTL when I signed up which I thought I rented but it seems that it belongs to me now. (how nice!)
