Thanks for the quick replies everyone, I run Linux on all my PC's at home so I can't run the Windows programs. I'm going to reinstall everything on my aspare server tonight and test the connection with that to make sure it's not my desktop PC thats to blame, although I haven't changed anything on that this week.

Aragorn, I sucessfully logged into the modem's control panel (but I haven't changed anything) and I'll try to ftp to upload.ntlworld.com tonight, I'll also try and ping the UBR. Also it does get a valid ip starting 82.18.x.x which is what puzzles me so much, I'll have a good test tonight and see what happens.
