OK, had enough of reading the pure whining......
Lets see, we've received a service upgrade, from 3Mbit to 10Mbit.....
Some of us are seeing 8Mbit because thats all our cable modems can handle.... Some a little less.
I know my cable modem was free, and if I was to move to ADSL (as some people seem to claim they will, now that even at 5.5Mbit their service exceeds that which ADSL can provide in most of the country) I would have to buy my own router. For a decent router, you are probably talking around the £60-£80 mark... so why complain at £50 to upgrade your cable modem???
Some people claim they aren't getting what they are paying for.... OK - You subscribed to this service as a 3Mbit service, maybe a 2Mbit or even 1Mbit service.....
The fact that its now 34.99Mbit -
for in my case 8Mbit, and 512k up instead of the £50 I was originally paying for 1Mbit down and 300k up - is great in my opinion.....
I just guess that some people out there are never happy. Good luck with your 2Mbit ADSL, or is that 1Mbit or 512k because you are too far from your exchange..... So long, oh and enjoy the fact that although it looks it, the grass really isn't that much greener over there!

I'd just like to say thanks NTL for the price reduction and service upgrade.

Have you tried ethernet, and dropping wireless out of the equation???
How are you testing your throughput? I have found that the most consistent result was using DUmeter, and then grabbing a Quake4 demo from jolt.co.uk's download section.... Their UK ONLY server seems to have loads of bandwidth.... Have used it for testing 155Mbit+ links at work!
