external CAT5E cable should be used if you want the run to go outside. The cable is made suitable for external use by sheathing it with Polyethylene. This can withstand the outside elements, being a tough material resistant to water, moisture, oil, UV and also aberration resistant.
For added security, trunking or conduit should be used.

Just try to avoid placing it against any existing electricity wires near by and make sure when putting clips down to hold the cable in place, it does not put too much pressure on the wire, which could damage the cable.
