wireless router problems

Hi,
I'm trying to get a wireless router (that once worked on this set-up but stopped? no apparent reason ?) set-up with telewest cable service. Here is the set-up:

telewest cable modem (Webstar DPX100) with rj45 connected to wirless (netgear) router. rj45 from wireless router to network card in local PC. wireless network card in remote (next room) PC.

Neither machine gets internet access. The wireless machine displays connection status and indicates it has a good connection and specifies speed etc, but no web pages can be viewed (I've virus scanned and spyware etc). It won't ping or anything. I have taken this wireless machine and it worked straight away on another adsl connection using the wireless router etc.

If I connect the local wired machine direct to the cable modem it works fine, whenever I try and add a second machine in some way it won't ?

Is it possible that the web star modem has 'blocked' the wireless pc ? I've not been able to use the admin panel for the web star modem yet but can it block IP's or MACS ?

I'm at a loss what to try next as I've tested all the equip to work fine independantly except for the web star, but telewest say its ok.

Can the web star support more than one machine ? Is there a better cable modem out there that could provide the connection AND wireless network feature ?

This config HAS worked before, but just stopped (I don't know the situatiojn of it stopping, wasn't involved then).

Any advice very much appreciated.
