You will need to log into you router, using the specified IP.
I am not going to quote one as i have used several to connect to my router, and also i have never used belkin routers.
Look in the manual and it should have the steps.
Basically you need to create a WPA password. In this case the information sent over the air is encrypted aswell as a password is required access the network.
It is important to secure the connection as someone else can misuse your bandwith, they can also undertake criminal activities.
If you do not secure your network you are open to abuse. I have sometimes stumbled on other networks, aswell as noticing others in my network.
