Just phoned ntl back to get the upgrade and a.) there's no record of my earlier call and b.) no I will NOT get the 10Mb until December

hate it when ntl do this. I don't mind having to wait until december - but I spoke the same callcentre, the same department and 2 people have told me conflicting things.
And as usual, the first person I spoke to did not make a record of the call.
Ah well, let's hope my email to one of ntl's directors gets the person in the wrong in a serious amount of trouble.
