Problem with Netgear RP114 and NTL Home 250

For a good many years I've been using a Netgear RP114 router connected to my STB. This has worked great... never any problems.

Because I've dumped NTL for TV services, today the STB was replaced with an "NTL Home 250" Cable Modem. The cable modem works fine when a PC is connected directly to, however when I connect the Netgear RP114, the router can't get a DHCP address for the WAN port. I have rebooted everything, I've also reset the MAC address spoofing on the RP114.

Anyone got any suggestions?
