Clutching at straws here (in other words I really am not sure whether I am helping or misleading).
Does your router offer a VPN type passthrough facility? Is that enabled? Your router may simply be bouncing bakc or denying any signals you are sending remotely as it's not allowed to forward them into your home LAN.
Be sure you are connecting, as indicated earlier to this thread, to the true IP WAN address of your router. If in doubt as to what this is, use the "connection" link of CF's headers to work this out (from your home PC), and don't reboot your modem afterwards, or that IP could change.
