Re: *All* ntl 10meg Discussion (part 2)

Anybody who had their eyes open when the last speed increases were undertaken could have predicted exactly how this thread would have developed today.

Not all customers can get the upgraded speeds in the first days of availability because they either have the wrong equipment or are in an area where further network improvement has to be done.

If you are in an area where the upgraded speeds are available then you will be upgraded to the new speeds automatically at a time that NTL has scheduled for you. This will more than likely be those on the highest tier first. Like the previous speed upgrades the latest upgrades will take place over several months. How long it takes to upgrade the entire customer base will depend on how the network copes as each new section of customers is migrated to the new speeds. The more network abusers that there are on the new speeds, the longer it will probably take to complete migration.

If you are the middle or bottom tier, live in an area that has the upgraded speeds available and have the right equipment than you will be able to do just the same as you could last time, upgrade online from day one. There are several reasons why online speed upgrades are not possible, some of which may be circumvented with a call to customer services.

Anyone who went through the previous speed upgrades and was a member of Cableforum would know exactly what was in store this time and how to ensure they were amongst the first to receive the upgrade.
