I don't wish to shatter your illusions of impending fatherhood, but if you think loss of time to watch broadcast TV is bad, just wait and see what happens to your evenings at home with a good video/DVD/whatever.
Trust me, you don't need a PVR. You will need a very comfy bed and a strategy for coping with sleep depravation.
