Intermittent connection problems Please help

Hey Guys

Over the last few weeks I have been experiencing connection issues with my line. trying to access sites I know are live gives me 'this document contains no data' they also sit there doing nothing when I try and follow links. sometime it will run ok but most of the time its a dead duck

I am in Northampton (nn1) and only have ntl for internet access I have one of the old school silver modems (with LAN + USB connections) I have that connected to a linksys drt54g wireless router (I don't use wireless and it is disabled on the router) the router has the latest firmware upgrade I have my machine and an xbox connected to the router. My pc is xp pro sp 2

my connection to the router is fine and the router has an 82.x.x.x IP address all ok

when pinging websites I get pretty much every 4th packet request timed out.

I'm pretty sure there is nothing wrong at my end as I have tried everything (full factory reset of the router, firmware upgrade, swapping nics in my pc etc)

I am on a 3mb connection
as far as I can tell there is no scheduled maintenance happening in my area and I don't think I'm due to be upgrade to 10mb yet

I hope I have covered everything in this post but I'm sure more info will be needed but if anyone can shed some light on the situation I will be very grateful,

Cheers

Matt
