Unless you get a cable modem with Ethernet the best option is probably

Internet -- CM -- PC with USB modem and Ethernet card -- router -- other PCs.

You'll need to keep the PC with the CM on all the time and you'll need to use its IP as the default gateway NOT your router's.

Really you need an ethernet modem. You can't get one with a DSL modem in either, as it's cable and doesn't use the phone, and it's probably against the T/Cs to connect *other* equipment.
