Have you tried manually setting Telewest's DNS servers on the Mac? If you go to System Preferences and click on Network you should be able to enter them there. I'm on NTL so I don't know what they should be, but you should be able to get them by typing "ipconfig /all" at the command prompt on the PC (Start->Run and type "cmd" if you don't know).
