Seems that merely disconnecting the power lead for a while caused the monitor to lose or corrupt its settings which then gave the washed out colour and other problems. Despite reverting to normal for a few seconds during the Auto Set up routine it then uses the "corrupt" settings. Iiyama said they'd never heard of such a problem but there are several forums on the go plus this one which shows that several people have experienced the same fault, and always after disconnecting the power lead. I didn't find Iiyama particularly helpful and I had to chase them to get the replacement which took about 10 days.

Yeah I'm still chasing the swines, last week they said there would be 'new' stock this week, I rang today and now they are saying next week, I asked if they had a firm delivery date, Iiyama claim they don't actually know when they are being delivered, that is some operation they run, no wonder this TFT crapped out after 4 months. It looks like the E435S has been dropped from the product portfolio, *******s said they would upgrade me except for the fact that the E435S is already top of the 17" lineup (another lie). Anyway I'll probably get one of the dud returned monitors that has been 'fixed', this puts me off ever buying an Iiyama product again, rant over...
