Re: Transfering Files Between PCs Via Network Cable

Windows XP uses SMB on port 445 for file sharing, while Windows 9x uses an older system on port 139.

In Network connections, double click your network connection, choose properties, scroll down the list to TCP/IP and highlight it, choose properties and click on advanced, in the WINS tab, make sure 'Netbios over TCP/IP' is enabled.

You must use an admin account.
