Re: Broadband outage Teesside

A cable on the NTl national network was damaged on thursday afternoon during roadworks being carried out for the new chiltern by-pass at the junction of the A689/A167 in Durham. Because the damae was not reported and the cable buried Ntl had a team out thursday night looking for the fault but it wasnt found till friday morning and the damage exposed. The damage was so severe it meant replacing a whole section of cable, once the new section was in place the damaged one was then cut about 1730 and the new one jointed on, this took till just after midnight. thats the problem with fibre optics once they get damaged they take a while to get repaired.
