I don't understand completely what you mean when you said via cable? I don't think it's possible as there isn't anywhere to fit another cable.

Did you turn off your firewalls?Are you connecting wirelessly? If so can you swap 1 PC over to a wired connection to the router while you are setting it up? It would be easier to do this wired as it will take any signal level problems out of the loop for now. According to the manual for that model number there are 4 ports on the back of it as well as it acting as a wireless bridge.
