I'd guess that the average P2P noob today wouldn't know a news server if it jumped up and bit them, while many know nothing beyond web and email - and don't want to.

the software doesn't help - Internet Explorer can't natively understand yEnc, while Thunderbird doesn't do 'combine & decode' without external help ( but does understand some yEnc) - not NTL's fault, of course - i have to say their servers are very fast, but retention & completion often leave a lot to be desired for the larger groups. I wait to see what 'improvements', we get
