I thought the DSL-G604T was and ADSL router anyway so the ADSL modem won't be in use now anyway. Use ethernet for the initial setup, 9 times out of 10 the Dlinks come with the wireless turned off. Once a PC is connected via ethernet (in XP) make sure the ethernet connection is set to auto for obtaining IP and DNS, then check under tool>connections in IE (or equivalent in whatever browser you use) and uncheck any proxies and 'always dial' settings.
