I have heard that NTL do installs 2 ways, depending on the area:

1) own personnel
2) Contractors

I was warned once by an NTL own installer that the local contractors are often complete cowboys who will totally fail to do the job properly. They don't care as 9 times out of 10 the job cannot be traced back to an individual workman and the contractors are simply not bothered.
