Thank you for your reply, it got so bad that I had to switch everything off ! No I have not called NTL as from what I have read on this forum they will blame my equipment, here are the power readings with everything running ok after an overnight re-boot.

Downstream Receive Power Level : 6.21 dBmv
Downstream SNR : 31.69 dB
Upstream Transmit Power Level : 39.50 dBmv

1st 128K took 540 ms = 242726 Bytes/sec = approx 2019 kbits/sec
2nd 128K took 531 ms = 246840 Bytes/sec = approx 2054 kbits/sec
3rd 128K took 551 ms = 237880 Bytes/sec = approx 1979 kbits/sec
4th 128K took 521 ms = 251578 Bytes/sec = approx 2093 kbits/sec
Quite a difference !!!
