Rebooting both STB and pc as instructed. I have downloaded and run WinsockFix but that made no difference. I have run ipconfig release and renew with the resulting message " unable to contact your DHCP" and I have gone over my settings with a fine tooth comb to ensure they are as they should be.
NTL have been good and made several suggestions but unfortunately, as they have concluded it is a problem with my pc and not their STB, there is nothing more they can do for me.
I would prefer to leave reinstalling windows as a last resort (but I am close!) as I believe that if I do not back everything up on to disk I will lose the lot, and even then there is no guarantees it will work.
Finally, if there are any computer savy NTL Tech in the Hampshire area...............!!!

Nah you can reinstall windows without losing your documents and files, all you need to do after the install finishes is re-load you applications and patches
