Hrm....
Are you losing your connection to the net every so often?
Are you changing anything on your PC at all?
Are you connecting via a router or direct to the cable modem?
For that matter are you using a cable modem or getting the self-install high speed internet through your set top box?
Just a few questions for starters, almost certainly more coming.
No it's not normal. Telewest issue sticky IPs just as ntl do, and the only reason for these to change are:
1) Failure to renew DHCP lease, lease expiring and being taken by another client.
2) DHCP server losing its' lease tables.
3) Changing the device connecting to the cable modem, or changing the MAC address of the device connecting to the cable modem.
4) Network resegmentation causing you to move to a different IP scope from the one you were previously using.
I'd actually take a wild guess at 1) but could be very wrong!
