It depends what you use a laptop for? We have both as we need both, but the majority of times we use the workstation as I feel I can do a lot more on that than my laptop. Plus it is a pain in the but everytime I go away as I always end up with a dead laptop half through the trip and I always forget to carry the spare battery, plus a laptop you can damage dead easy and they seem to take ages to get repair, were as a tower is only away for a few days, last time I damaged my lappy it was away for weeks as they were waiting for one small part.
