Sorry, but ya wrong! You cannot detect chipped boxes...period
If they are putting noise back on the network, its a faulty digi box and not the fact they have been chipped. I think you are reffering to the "cube" thats use was widespread on GI boxes, that put a spike at 20megs on to the network.
Now the digi boxes can reset themselves, so even the "hits" to disable them don't work!
It would help if NTL, firstly, tightened up the stores process, and secondly, picked up dico'ed boxes

I should know, after all,i've only been with ntl for 12 years.
