IDE to SATA

I just recently got an ASUS 6600GT TOP PCI-E card from an old 5200 PCI Card, now I can play ALL my games on top quality however my loading times are slow and when the game finally loads, I experience strong hard drive lag throughout the game.

I am quite positive its not Windows (virus scanned, spyware scanned etc) and I think that my IDE drive is bottlenecking my system, which I would have never noticed before using a PCI GFX card.

Now is a SATA drive going to boost my alround system performance? Currently I have an IDE Seagate barracuda 80GB. I am going to purchase a SATA drive however I have no idea what the best HDDs are, I want a quiet or moderate sounding HDD, I would prefer around 160+ GB space and I would like it to be substancial for games AND be around £100... ..I order from Micro Direct and Ebuyer, please could you direct me to the best SATA HDD?

If they help;

ASUS A8N-Sli Mobo
AMD64 3200+ Winchester 939 pin
Crucial 512MB RAM (ALSO WANT UPGRADING, THIS RAM IS ATROCOUS!)
ASUS EN6600GT TOP
