I'm assuming you are talking about a standalone dvd recorder, if so I have no experience of them but I can help with the vob files.Download vob merge from the link below, it allows you to join multiple vobs into one file.

Also, a bit more detail would probably be more helpful. What machine and what settings are you using etc.
