Looking at that link, in spite of it's name, it IS a router. However, given that it comes with RJ11 cables, etc, I suspect it is an ADSL modem/router and hence not compatible with cable. Quite why it only works with BT Broadband (you need a different one for BT Yahoo!) is not clear.

Basically, you need a router with an RJ45 (Ethernet) WAN port to connect to the cable modem or STB. ADSL modem/routers have an RJ11 ('telephone') port to connect directly to the BT line.
