Those requirements are bull**** man, don't believe everything you read!

It's already been confirmed that Longhorn will run fine on legacy systems, such as a P3 with 256MB RAM; the GUI just reverts back to an XP like state.

I predict the recommeded hardware spec' to be around a 1.5GHz or higher CPU with 512MB (or more) RAM and for the GUI, a DirectX 9.0c compatible GPU.

Has anyone tried out Longhorn build 5048 from WinHEC 2005? It's the first external build since they scrapped what they had and started over again with the Windows Server 2003 code base, I was surprised how well it ran and it's actually quite stable.
