Re: picture not centre of screen

From an ntl technical bulletin for field techs:
"When connecting STB’s via scart leads you have the choice of either RGB or composite signal types from the STB. RGB does provide higher signal quality, however some 4:3 aspect ratio TV’s incorrectly decode the signal which causes a noticeable shift to the left for certain channels. These channels have captions starting on the far left of the screen. Therefore most
broadcasters avoid using captions here but it can be seen on 7-10% of our channel line-up.
For example on the screen shot below of NEWS24 if RGB is selected it causes the logo to move to the screen edge. However for Sky News you actually loose the ‘S’ in the Sky News banner at the top left of the screen and similarly some of the product information on QVC.
If composite is used then a slight degradation of picture quality occurs in terms of a reduction in colour / sharpness. VCR O/P of the STB is fixed as composite which would allow customers to see the difference and make an informed choice.
NB: If a customer’s TV suffers this problem then use the
composite TV format. This issue affects both Bromley and Langley platforms and all box types."

I think you are confusing this with the old 'samsung picture shift' bug, which was fixed a couple of months ago. AFAIK, the Samsung picture positioning is spot on.
