Re: how do u check you conection speed?

Okay - these links will only work with a stand alone cable modem (SACM) and possibly not all SACMs at that. If it doesn't work - don't blame me! They all work with my grey Ambit NTL:home 120 modem.

modem root page: http://root:root@192.168.100.1/

You can get to most pages from here by clicking the appropriate links. For example, click on Operation Configuration to get the page above. However, there are three extra pages for which there are no links:

Event log: http://root:root@192.168.100.1/P_log.htm
lists the event log of the modem

Interface rate: http://root:root@192.168.100.1/P_rate.htm
counts packets sent and received on each interface

Upstream burst descriptor: http://root:root@192.168.100.1/P_ubd.htm
erm, I could hazard a guess but I don't really know

I strongly advise people NOT to fiddle with the settings in any of these pages. An errant click of the mouse could easily stop your modem working. Then you will probably need a call out to fix it again - for which you will be charged. Be warned!
