, anyway , how about doing what hospitals do and ask ppl how they wish to be known as , i.e. mr young / paul etc , i must admit i usually use ' my mate ' a lot and it nevers semms to offend ppl , and if it did then it wouldnt really bother as most likely i would carry on doing it
