the thing is while United were spending this money so were Chelsea.. not got there stats for the same period but they spend then plus 200m in the last 2 years.. that is the difference
Yeah, but very few of the Chelsea players they signed then are still there, and very few of the ones left are still active. Gudjohnsen and Lampard possibly the only two I can think of.

In any case, there was evidence the Chelsea coffers had dried up pre-RA. The close-season before, only one free signing had been made- Jurgen Macho... hardly illustrious. Yet they still finished fourth.
