the thing is while United were spending this money so were Chelsea.. not got there stats for the same period but they spend then plus 200m in the last 2 years.. that is the difference |
Yeah, but very few of the Chelsea players they signed then are still there, and very few of the ones left are still active. Gudjohnsen and Lampard possibly the only two I can think of.
In any case, there was evidence the Chelsea coffers had dried up pre-RA. The close-season before, only one free signing had been made- Jurgen Macho... hardly illustrious. Yet they still finished fourth.
