Re: Final questions before I take the plunge... (graphics, CPU etc)

It will probably be:

Amd Athlon 64 3500 Winchester
2x512mb Geil 3200 Cas 2.5
Gigabyte K8NF-9 nForce4 (PCI-E)
Plus whatever the fastest PCI-E X800 is I can afford with change from £525 (200? seen an XT for £202 inc).

Some questions please:

1. Is this a well balanced system, i.e. am I better off going going for the 3800 San Diego and cutting back slightly on Graphics?

2. Is Geil Ram ok?

3. Is that Motherboard ok?

4. What does VIVO on a gc actually give you in the real world? Is it worth spending more to get VIVO?

5. Is this good value and I safe buying from these guys? http://www.pcbuyit.co.uk/product.asp...nc+power+cable

Thanks a lot.

Cheers.
1. Depends it you're going to use it mainly for gaming, if so, spend more on the video card and less on the processor

2. Geil ram is great, it runs a little hot but works flawlessly and is great for oc'ing.

3. If there's a fan on the Northbridge, expect it to die within 6 months, you can replace it with a passive heatsink instead, other than that GB boards are reliable but not exceptional on performance.

4. VIVO = Video in/Video Out, some X800 VIVO's will let you flash with an XT PE bios, but video in is a bit pointless when most decent digital video cameras transfer using firewire.

5. It's good value, I've never heard of the company though.
