he backed up a hell of a lot of data apparently 7 CDs worth, and he never lost anything when it changed from 98se to XP. Better to be safe than sorry!
but he is still on FAT32 which should not bother him too much.

If he wants to convert to NTFS later, he can use this command:
convert c: /fs:ntfs
Substitute the HDD letter to match the one the install is on. You need to execute the command in CMD.
