Very Poor Speed - can you help?

I have 2MB broadband via a Samsung STB.
When it was upgraded to 2MB I had a great 2MB service and all the tests I did confirmed the speed.

Recently I have noticed the speed has got worse and worse, so much so these are the type of figures I am getting now :-

Sat, 16 Apr 2005 21:49:09 GMT
1st 128K took 3659 ms = 35822 Bytes/sec = approx 298 kbits/sec
2nd 128K took 6582 ms = 19914 Bytes/sec = approx 166 kbits/sec
3rd 128K took 3712 ms = 35310 Bytes/sec = approx 294 kbits/sec
4th 128K took 3539 ms = 37036 Bytes/sec = approx 308 kbits/sec

They are really poor for a 2MB service.

I have reset / rebooted the STB but it has made no difference.
The STB is showing the right service level of stb-mid (2MB) and NTL tell me that I have the correct service set at their end, but it is still rubbish.

Anyone have any ideas?

I am have a Mac running OS X, but I don't see how that would be affecting the poor download speeds, as it was working great 1 week ago.
