Because the car is subject to a 36 month parts warranty which is void if not serviced at a Volvo dealer.

Actually, I know David Clay very well, he has been the service manager at the Oldham Volvo dealership for almost 20 years now. The bill was over £600 but it was for a full 42000 mile service, first MOT and included new brake pads all round. As the car is a business expense and they supply a free courtesy car I have always been happy with the quality, efficiency and friendliness of my local Volvo dealer.
