NTL will take advantage of any available technology whether it be on-net or off-net. The ADSL2+ trials were on NTL infrastructure which can support ADSL2+ at 18Mbps and beyond to the 95%+ homes that are under 1km from the fibre network. BT local loops only have around 5% of homes within 1km and therefore performance will degrade beyond this distance. This gives NTL an enormous advantage over current day xDSL providers.
