Well the last two recipients were in the Falklands war and they were awarded poshumously.It is very rare for there to be a live recipient of The VC.Thankfully we have avoided most all out wars since the 50's as the VC is awarded for

I suggest you read the article a little closer and just accept that not just anyone gets a VC.It being the highest Military Medal that is awarded it is treated with the UTMOST RESPECT by everyone and would not be allowed to be cheapened in a face saving operation by any government because it's not in the government's power to influence it.
