sorry, but with respect, I think you are missing the point - this upgrade has been planned and that plan is now being executed.
There never ever was going to be a way that NTL could flick a switch & upgrade everyone at once, no matter how good the planning.
Undeniably, it is a pain for the people still waiting, but short of equipping everyone with an STB with a Samsung, whether they need one, or not, I can't see any other way to do it. (and this would still take time to do)
It would have been nice for them to send the anticipated letter to stb users explaining what was happening & get some feedback, sooner than they have, though
