samsung have only recently introduced the samsung set top box the reason they gave out pace set top boxes is because this is what they supplied at the time

That does not excuse ntl using them for broadband, they should always give out SACM's not use the cable modem in the STB.
They might not have been automatically upgraded but ntl did leave a loophole in their system to allow users to manually upgrade via their website, STB users are not able to do this.

In the US, Japan, some of Europe, America they all have 1Mb+ and have had for a while ntl should have thought ahead.
