When you said that you had split the cable, I assumed that you had split the coax cable *before* it went to the set-top box? Doing it that way (main coax feed > F splitter > one cable to digibox & one cable to upstairs TV) would enable what I mentioned earlier. The 2nd cable would plug straight into the other TV, rather than into the (inactive & still belonging to ntl) analogue box.
