Have you downloaded and run the MS anti-spyware tool (I think you can do it through Windows Update)?

There was a similar thread to this a couple of weeks ago and the MS tool actually solved the problem.

The only things I can find out about this on the web are on pages written in German (and other languages) and I can't make head or tail of them, it doesn't seem to be a common problem though.
All windows updates are up to date indeedy. I've run all the spyware programs listed in post 1 - but that's the only ones I've run.
