It's not a fault with the STB.

You're unlucky enough to have a first-generation 4001 box (press page up, page down, blue -- one of the pages will probably say you have HW version 0!). These boxes only output s-video or composite -- all other boxes do RGB or composite.

Unfortunately, given that there's not actually a fault with the box, I'm not sure that there's a lot that can be done about it...
