my pop peeper software will download the emails though and that got it settings from outlook express .so i just dont know what else to think ..but this has all happened since ntl was having trouble with the email system ..

yeah i would assume the settings are ok - they worked before & if it ain't broke.....
Until you get evidence to the contrary, i would continue to suspect it could still be a problem at NTL's end.
Gmail is a free beta webmail service, run by Google, which offers a 1Gigabyte mailbox for storing your mail.
- as a downside it also displays adverts that are 'relevant' to the content of the email, that are automatically generated by the pop server. In fact these are not that intrusive - no more than the ones generated by a normal Google enquiry, anyway.
Users of the service periodically get the opportunity to invite new users - there is currently no other way to get a Gmail account.
